With no excuse at all,
Up across the blue crystal dome
Wafts such a whimsical wisp,
Foamy and feathery, rolling, unrolling,
Like an idle white peacock in dozing.
It must be after a long sunny spell
The wind wonders how far it can blow
In one breath and to what ethereal height
It can lift this impromptu kite
To the topmost freezing sphere
Where no eagle asserts his claim.
The angels are all alert:
“This is high enough. The Power
Will surely be offended!”
So it is confiscated.
