AUTUMN CHANT
Dedicated to Warmth
秋歌──給暖暖*

translated by Zona Yi-Ping TSOU 鄒怡平

Falling leaves give a final shiver
The Anaphalis flowers vanish in the blue eyes of inland waters
The hammering of July anvils fades away
Warmth my dear

Wild geese no longer script their graceful sonnets
In the far-flung autumn air
Warmth my dear

Crushed by horses’ hooves, fallen petals are left
On a mountain trail in a southern soil
The splintered notes of a singer’s zither are left

In a secluded northern temple

Autumn, autumn has left us
Nothing but a warmth

Nothing but a warmth
And the whole world is left for us.
