Bringing with them the supplies of ship after ship

And all that semen, stirring up trouble like the Seventh Fleet
Those combat-ready penises
Erect even as they are killed in action

As the temperature is rising amidst the chirping of cicadas
In the sultry summers of the sixties
Destitute women earn foreign currency for a hungry government
Pubescent children wearing underpants
Made from US aid flour sacks
Stream into churches to collect a loaf of bread

At dusk, battle commences on the fields of whiskey and perfume
And the spermatic ducts are even busier than the sewers
Heads of dicks more eager to explode than warheads
Privates with a prostitute in each arm, throwing bottles
In a drunk stupor
Setting off orgasmic spasms with their horny banter
As a teenager my eyes recorded this version
Of a Vietnam War movie
Suzie Wong gazing at me as she disappears in the distance
The blues is playing in the streets of my hometown
