VISITING THE BLUE GROTTO— Grotta Azzurra, Italy, 1998
航向藍洞*
Translated by John J. S. BALCOM 陶忘機
Nowadays only in my dreams can I be near you
That seacoast by myth embraced
Islands and submerged reefs of fancy borne
Near to you, near to the narrow-mouthed, big-bellied grotto
The sealed off hue
Awaiting a greater complexity of color
Nowadays, nowadays only in my dreams am I able
To smuggle rays of evening sunlight
From the Mediterranean at sunset
Overrun your trembling lips like red wine
Waiting to be emptied into the humming grotto
The dim light, surging and submerged, is set free in the grotto
Where it echoes loudly
I long to reencounter that barcarole
Rolling off the lips going straight to my soul
