Hsiang Ming 向明
INTERIOR DRAWING 室內繪*
Translated by John J. S. BALCOM 陶忘機
|
Laughing, they are all laughing secretly
From the big belly vase
From bending potted plant
From the seductive bearing of calendar girl
Laughter, carrying the gloom of the cold current
Pacing endlessly back and forth
Is the wall clock
He sighs, and at a fixed time
He sways, and for a second
Seems to be trying to throw off the ghost that controls him
The furniture with legs
Longs so to go out for some sunshine
Gets excited even when cut off by the clouds
Alas! Alas!
That nasty paralysis
